Watermark is providing engineering services to Lewis and Zimmerman Associates (LZA), as part of a Value Engineering (VE) team assembled to review the design of the new water treatment plant (WTP) and associated reservoir pump stations and pipelines.  The WTP is a high profile project for the town, and the VE reviews were conducted at the conceptual (10%) and preliminary (30%) design milestones.

Watermark reviewed the design engineer’s plans and specifications, and developed alternatives in the civil-site and process/mechanical areas of the project.  Pipe materials, intake configurations, process equipment, chemical feed systems, and plant layout alternatives were developed.  Capital costs, annual operating and maintenance costs and Life Cycle Cost Analyses were developed for each alternative.

The design engineer and the town reviewed the suite of VE suggestions and selected several for incorporation into the final design documents.
